That depends upon which factor is changed in the element.
For example: If we change the color of wood just by painting it,then chemically it would still be the same wood which was before painting but if you change its chemical properties like its combustion capacity then definitely we will get something else rather than wood.
therefore, If we change chemical properties of a substance then its physical properties can be affected but if we change the physical properties then its chemical properties won't be affected.
