A substance is homogeneous when all parts of the solution are evenly mixed. It has a uniform appearance

A heterogeneous mixture is a solution with uneven parts of the solution and parts of these solutions are visible.

Explanation:

Think about homogeneous mixtures like Kool-Aid; the powder and water are evenly mixed and blended to look like a colored water.

Heterogeneous mixtures are like sand and water. You mix those together and you can still see the sand particles floating around the mixture. This mixture is not blended.

Hope this helped!
