Question #ccef8

1 Answer

It is probably more accurate to discuss methods scientists use, because they will sometimes do things in slightly different orders.

Explanation:

The scientific method is commonly taught as being a sequence of things that scientist do to answer a question. Real science does not always have to follow this exact sequence...

  1. Use observations to ask a question
  2. Do background research to find out more about a topic
  3. Use observations and research to form a hypothesis
  4. Design an experiment
  5. Conduct an experiment
  6. Collect Data
  7. Analyze data
  8. Form conclusion
  9. Communicate results - publish

The video below uses an example of an experiment my students conduct to test which survival strategy would be best if you were submerged in very cold water and could not get out. I like to call it the Titanic Lab!

Hope this helps!
