In one molecule of cadmium nitrate there are two atoms of nitrogen.
(work out the brackets, as in maths, and it'll be $C d N_{2} O_{6}$ $CdN_2O_6$ )

So in one mole of cadmium nitrate there are two moles of nitrogen.
The mass the nitrogen is thus $2 \times 14.01 = 28.02 g$ $2xx14.01=28.02g$
