They used to protest in a number of ways.
Explanation:
Many draft dodged by leaving the USA for example going to Europe or Canada.
Others publicly burnt their draft papers in protest, others refused to go but did so more passively.
Many veterans on returning demonstrated against the war as opposition grew. Some publicly threw away their medals in disgust at continued American involvement.
Others took part demonstrations often at colleges and universities. Some paid with their lives for example the shootings at Kent State University.
