The connective tissue lines the various cells and organs of the body and has the function of holding all the parts together.

Explanation:

Connective tissue is the pathway by which blood vessels and nerves reach all parts of the body.

Other functions include support of the body and fighting infections.

Connective tissue is divided into several groups:
Loose fibrous connective tissue: These are fibers that are loosely woven together. This tissue has a spongy structure and stores water, glucose and salt.

Dense fibrous connective tissue: Has a high concentration of fibers, interwoven with each other, and closely packed in to parallel bundles. example: tendons and ligaments.

Reticular connective tissues has a loose network of fine fibers. Several types of cells, like macrophages, are present. Found in lymph nodes, spleen and bone marrow.

Adipose or fatty tissue, usually found in subcutaneous tissue. Acts as storage for excess food and as padding for some body organs, as a means of protection.
