Cancer can cause the rapid and uncontrolled mitosis of cells affected by cancer.

Explanation:

Normally there are blocks and inhibitors that limit the process of mitosis. Cells that die are replaced by neighboring cells undergoing mitosis. Once the dead cells are replaced the process of mitosis stops.

With cancer the mutations and deletions cause the parts of the DNA that are suppose to control the rate of mutation are damaged. Cancer cells are then free to undergo unlimited mitosis resulting in tumors.
