While we could do this by working with the fractions, because it is a fraction, we can get rid of the fractions altogether by #xx LCM# which is 15:

#x/3 color(red)(xx15) + 3color(red)(xx15) = x/5 color(red)(xx15) + 5 color(red)(xx15)#

Cancel the denominators

#5x +45 = 3x +75#

#5x-3x = 75-45#

#2x = 30#

#x = 15#
