Down the St. Lawrence River, across to Lake Ontario over to the edge of Lake Huron, and Upstate New York and separately, the Atlantic coast past modern Boston. Established the settlement of Quebec.

Samuel de Champlain followed the explorations of Jacques Cartier and further. He establish a number of settlements and is known as the Father of New France. He was de facto Governor of New France from 1620 until his death in 1635.
