Unity of action, place and time. Most of the Greek plays took place in one location, took the span of a day or less, and were about one subject (action).
Explanation:
Many modern plays also use the unities. "Long day Journey Into Night" by Eugene O'Neill is one. Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolfe" is another.
Initially Greek Plays were had very simple structures and they grew more complex as the art form matured. Initially there were never more than 2 characters on stage at once. As time past more characters were allowed.
Aristotle tried to write down educational guide for the arts in his "Poetics" which was taken up by Renaissance Artist over a millennium after in was written when it was rediscovered.
