How else but by experiment...........?

Explanation:

Chemistry is an experimental science. Experimental result trumps theory, in that the theory must rationalize and underline the experimental result. Of course, for a given set of molecules, #CH_4#, #PH_3#, #NH_3#, and #H_2O#, we might propose an order of boiling points (in the order given) on the basis of intermolecular interaction, but we would be careful to consult the literature boiling points afterwards. Would you do this for the series proposed?
