Explanation:

The empirical formula is the simplest WHOLE number ratio representing constituent atoms in a species. We know, or should know, that the formula of glucose is C_6H_12O_6, and I divide this thru by 6, I get the empirical formula CH_2O, which is the same simplest whole number ratio. The "molecular formula" is always a multiple of the "empirical formula".
