If classification of organisms was not done then all the living organisms would be placed under same kingdom . This would cause confusion regarding naming of animals or plants. first organisms were classified into two:
1. plant kingdom
2. animal kingdom

Then this system also showed demerits that is for eg,Fungi, which is a plant but it cannot produce its own food. the cell wall is made up of chitin.
At last Whittakar proposed five kingdom classification which used at present. They are:
1.Monera
2.Protistes
3.Fungi
4.Plantae, This is divided into five:

? Bryophytes
? Pteridophytes
? Gymnosperms
? Angiosperms
5. Animalia
/ Porifera
/ Colentrata
/ Platyhelminthes
/ Ctenophora
/ Nematoda
/ Aschelmenthes
/ Annelida
/ Mollusca
/ Echinodermata
/ Vertabrata
1.Pisces
2.Reptiles
