In 1934 the IRA or Indian New Deal(also called the Wheeler-Howard Act), it gave tribes a certain autonomy.

It was launched by John Collier who was the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs during FDR's administration. It put an end to the illegitimate forced assimilation and to the unfair seizures of their lands.
