Bulk silver metal will not react in HCl solution. They do not react unless the silver is in a nano-particulate form.

Explanation:

Silver is below hydrogen in the activity series (redox), and therefore silver metal does not react with H+ to produce silver ions and hydrogen gas. Since there is no Ag+ formed, then there can be no precipitate of white AgCl either.

If a piece of pure silver is dropped in a bowl containing HCl,it will not react with the HCl.

Explanation:

The reaction is not as following:
#Ag+2HCl=AgCl_2+H_2#.
In this case silver is below of hydrogen by activeness series.so there will be no reaction.
