Freeborn John, coined the term freedom rights. The concept that people have rights that come directly from God not the government.

Explanation:

Freeborn John was a puritan and a Quaker. He believed and taught that people had rights that came from God. He was arrested and beaten for expressing these views. His writing had an effect on the idea of John Locke, the declaration of independence and the Bill of Rights.

His writings are reflected in the first amendment that the government should not interfere in matters of belief, either to encourage or discourage. The fifth amendment is directly from his writings that a person should not be forced to incriminate and convict themselves. In his time a person was force to confess their guilt before the trial began.

America owns a lot to this forgotten person of faith who suffered persecution to bring freedom and basic human rights to reality in England and America.
