Psittacines roughly constitute 393 species in 92 genera. They are found mostly in tropical and subtropical regions. Common psittacines include budgies, cockatiels, lories, cockatoos, amazons, African greys, love birds, senegals and jardines.
They are vivdly coloured and some are multicoloured. They form the most variably sized bird order in terms of length. Seeds, nuts, fruits and buds are important components of their diet. Parrots are amongst one of the most intelligent birds.
