This is infection of tonsils. Known as tonsillitis.
Explanation:
Tonsils are the lymph glands located where chances of infection are most.
One of the sites of possible infection is pharynx. Where oral cavity, Eustachian tubes and respiratory tract come together.
Lymph glands have lymhocytetes and lymph vessels. These prevent entry of infection,
Tenderness of tonsils, redness and fever can subside after treatment of mild antibiotic.
Tonsillectomy may not be required generally.
