There are many substances that can accept electrons, but perhaps the most "eager" to accept electrons are metals. Metals are cations, or positively charged ions. Therefore, they accept electrons in order to balance out their positive charges.

For example, the sodium cation #Na^+# would accept an electron (#e^-#) in order to cancel out its #+1# charge. Likewise, the Barium cation, #Ba^(2+)# would accept electrons as well (in this case, #2 e^-#) to cancel out its #+2# charge.
