It can't be solved, but it can be expanded to #2a +2b +6#

Explanation:

In order to solve a problem, you usually need an equal sign. If you don't see one in a problem check to see if you need simplify, expand or factor.

Looking at this problem I'm guessing you need to expand -- meaning to get rid of the parenthesis.

Use the distributive property to give the 2 to each term in the parenthesis using multiplication #2 xx 3 = 6# , #2 xx, a = 2a,# and #2 xx b = 2b#.

Standard form has you put terms with variables before terms constants (terms without variables.) And since mathematicians like order, put it in alphabetic order.

That's how I got - #2a +2b +6#

In other similar problems watch out for negatives and subtraction signs.
