First you distribute the left:

#8(w+6)=8w+48#

This is what we got so far:

#8w+48=2w+12#

What you do now is subtract #2w# from both sides:

#8w-2w+48=cancel2w-cancel2w+12#

#6w+48=12#

Now subtract #48# from both sides:

#6w+cancel48-cancel48=12-48#

Now divide both sides by #6#
