Subtract #color(red)(6)# from each side of the equation to solve for #r# while keeping the equation balanced:

#r + 6 - color(red)(6) = 13 - color(red)(6)#

#r + 0 = 7#

#r = 7#

#r=13-6#
#r=7#
Remember, whenever a variable or number is transposed from on hand side(HS) to another hand side, if it was a positive it becomes a negative, if it was a negative it becomes a positive.
