The volume of #100%# acetic acid is #=150ml#

Explanation:

Let the volume of acetic acid #100%# be #=vml#

Then, the volume of water is #=(500-v)ml#

We write the material balance equation with respect to the component acetic acid

#100*v+(500-v)*0=500*30#

Solving this equation,

#100v=15000#

#=>#, #v=15000/100=150ml#

Do you mean "vinegar in water" or do you mean "acetic acid in water"?

Explanation:

If you want to make a 30% solution of acetic acid in water, the calculation is trivial: Total volume of solution = 500 ml. % by volume of acetic acid = 30%, therefore volume of acetic acid required = #(30/100).500 = 150# ml.

However, a "30% vinegar in water" solution is entirely different, as vinegar is only 4 - 5 % acetic acid. So if you wanted to create the equivalent of a 30% vinegar in water solution using acetic acid and water, you would need to use approximately: #(30/100).(4/100)*500 = 6# ml of acetic acid.

Please note that whilst acetic acid is a component of vinegar, acetic acid and vinegar are NOT the same thing!
