Mughal is a variation of Mongol who were the descendants of Genghis Khan. He and his descendants conquered most of Asia and some of Europe. Mughal is the South East Asian Empire from the early 1500s.

Explanation:

The Mughal Empire refers to the area around India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mughals were Muslim. The people they ruled over were primarily Hindu but included many minority religions. The conquests of Timor were an important catalyst of the Mughal Empire.

The Mughals ruled administratively though local governing elites. The empire was mostly peaceful but there were notable clashes between Muslims and Hindus. The Mughal Empire fell to the Europeans in the 1800s. Notable winners were the British who adopted somewhat the Mughal administrative manner of ruling.

The Mughal Empire was relative stable in a very populous and diverse area. Notable upheavals were the Deccan War during the reign of Aurangzeb when millions died. Aurangzeb destroyed many Hindu Temples. Aurangzeb had a huge army that marched though southern India for more than 25 years conquering and reconquering the area. Hindus engaged in a endless guerrilla war that they constantly lost but were never defeated. The Mughal Empire went into a steep decline after Aurangzeb died in 1707.
