New elements continue to be discovered (created by atomic fusion in labs).

Explanation:

As our technological capabilities increase, we have been able to create and validate heavier and heavier atoms. The limits are the amount of energy that we can bring to atomic fusion and the lifetimes of the created atoms.

Uranium is the heaviest naturally occurring element on Earth. New discoveries claim that Plutonium may also be considered 'naturally occurring'. All others more massive are made.
