Tread of as tire increases its coefficient of kinetic friction(#mu_k#) of the tires thereby increasing the frictional force.

During a turn, the centripetal force necessary for the car to stay on the circular track is provided by friction alone and so tire tread is very important to prevent skidding of the car on a turning road
