$w=-1$

Firstly, lets get rid of the brackets and add all the like terms together.
$2/w +5= 5/w+5+3$
$2/w+5=5/w+8$

Next lets subtract 5 from each side, to get
$2/w+5-color(red)(5)=5/w+8-color(red)(5)$
$2/w=5/w+3$

Then we subtract $5/w$ from both sides, to get
$2/w - color(red)(5/w)=5/w -color(red)(5/w)+3$
$-3/w=3$

Now we multiply both sides by $w$ , as a setup for the next step, so
$-3/w *color(red)(w)=3*color(red)(w)$
$-3=3w$

The last step is to divide both sides by 3 so as to isolate $w$ ,
$-3/color(red)(3)=(cancel(3)w)/cancel(color(red)(3))$
