The answer to #-x/36 = 2# is #x = -72#

Step one: Rewrite the equation

#color(green)(-1/36x) = 2# it's the exact same as #-x/36 = 2#

Step two: divide both sides by the reciprocal of #-1/36#

#color(blue)((36/-1)) xx color(red)(-1/36)x = color(blue)((36/-1)) xx 2#

this gives us

#color(green)(x= -72)#
