FALSE (see explanation). Did you make a typo?

Explanation:

#7v-2(4v+5)=-(v+8)#

#7v-[2(4v)+(-2)(5)]=\color(maroon)(-1)(v+8)# distributive property on left
#7v-[8v+(-10)]=[-1(v)+(-1)(8)]# simplify; distributive property on right
#-v-10=-v-8# simplify again

the two sides are not equal, as #-v-10\ne-v-8#
If you moved the #v#' s to one end, you would cancel them out. But the end result #-10\ne-8#...

So unless you made a typo, this is unsolvable.
