Color distinguishes the atom.

Explanation:

Spheres are often marked with different colors in order for the viewer to be able to distinguish at a glance which atom is which. Nitrogen is usually blue, whereas oxygen is red. Putting the atomic symbols for elements instead of differing colors would make it harder to visualize a molecule in the 3-D form.
