distribute the 6 to the parentheses.

6-42x >= -8x + 40

add 42 to both sides to get variable on one side.

6 >= 34x + 40

subtract 40 from both sides

-34 >= 34x

now we divide both sides by a form of one.

-34/34 >= (34x)/34

-1 >= x or x<=-1
