As you very well may know, Animal Farm is indeed a satire, explaining through animals the awful experiences of Communist Russia. It is an amazing book, really.
But back to your question, Orwell depicts the struggle for freedom through the tyranny of Napoleon to his “comrades.” They are cracking under pressure, and Boxer dies, even! But he dies in vain because the tyrants don’t ease up. Boxer “died working to please Napoleon,” but he was so terribly mislead. The animals are trying to cope and create some freedom and a little wiggle-room, but to no avail.
