In your question 4 to the power of 2 is #4^2#
and 4 to the power of 10 is #4^10#

So to divide, it is #4^2/4^10#

Following the exponent rules that you learned, we subtract the indexes (since they have the same base)

#4^(2-10)=4^-8# So the answer is 4 to the power of negative 8.

Not sure why you did 10-8, but I think you had the right idea. You just subtracted the exponents wrong.
