I'm going to assume that you mean, "A number is four times larger than half the number?".

If we pretend that "half the number" is y, the question becomes:

"A number is four times larger than y" which is equal to

x = y + 4

Now we replace y with "Half the number" which is x/2

Therefore, the equation becomes:

x = frac{x}{2}+4

I know these questions can be quite tricky ;)
