Magnetic field cannot do work. For a non-zero force to do no work, the force must always be perpendicular to the displacement/velocity vector. If the force, and hence the acceleration, is perpendicular to the velocity vector always the magnitude of the velocity vector (speed) will not change but only its direction will. This results in uniform circular motion.
