Explanation:
It's a close one for me between A and D, but I think D wins out.
I prefer D over A because the narrator does become more and more paranoid (in between his memories of "his lost Lenore") - just look at how he freaks out about curtains! But the urgency of the matter doesn't really seem to grow - it's not like the tap tap tapping at the chamber door increases or becomes more pronounced - it's just the narrator forcing himself to deal with a nuisance that ends up being nothing (at least at this point in the poem...)
