The definition of the decibel scale is

where,

Therefore,

If #I_(dB)=90=10log_(10)(I/I_0)#

Then,

The new decibel level will be

#I_(dB)'=10log_(10)((2I)/I_0)=10log_(10)2+10log_(10)(I/I_0)#
