If you're referring to the tendency of electrons to "re-ground", having been excited by energy, then,

As the transition becomes large (e.g. #n = 7 to 1# v. #n = 2 to 1#), the wavelength of the energy emitted (usually in the form of photons, but may be other forms) decreases,

#E = (hc)/(lambda)#

That mathematical relationship dictates the inverse relationship I just described. You may deduce the answer to your question this way.

Smaller transitions result in lower energy, and longer wavelength photons.
