If s is the length of one side:

f(s)=(2s^2+pis^2-10s+25)/pi

Explanation:

Let s be the side length of one side:

The the amount of rope taken by the square is 4*s, so the area length of the remainder of the string is 10-4s.

The area of the square =s^2

The circumference(C) of the circle is 2*radius*pi

:. radius = C/(2pi)=(10-4s)/(2pi)=(5-2s)/pi

Area of a circle =pi*r^2=pi*((5-2s)/pi)^2=(2s^2-10s+25)/pi

:. Total area =(2s^2-10s+25)/pi+s^2=(2s^2+pis^2-10s+25)/pi
