Passive voice sentences often use these two formats:
1) #color(blue) ("Some form of the verb TO BE ")#
2) #color(orange)("The action is done BY someone")#
Examples:
• The ball gown #color(blue)("was")# last worn to the dance #color(orange)("by")# Regina.
• The letter carrier #color(blue)("was")# bitten #color(orange)("by")# a ferocious dog.
Your sentences don't match this pattern exactly, but you can still see how they fit into it.
#3.# The items can #color(blue)("be")# found in the last aisle ... #color(orange)("by")# the shoppers.
#2.# The typeS of companies where I could work #color(blue)("were")# investigated ... #color(orange)("by")# me.
#1.# This was a decision I was overwhelmed with my senior year.
(I #color(blue)("was")# overwhelmed my senior year #color(orange)("by")# this decision.)
#color(white)(mmmmmm)#―――――――――
You can change sentences like this into #"active voice"# by making the object of the word #color(orange)("by")# into the subject of the sentence.
