they can cause a difference in temperature which can affect the type of precipitation in the area they can also move storm systems into different areas

Explanation:

the jet stream is high up in the air and can either come from the polar are bringing cold air with it or the subtropical area bringing warm air with it and since they are high up in the atmosphere they can push storm systems to different areas and if it is the polar jet it will cause snow because of how cold it is and if it the subtropical jet it will cause rain because of how warm it is
