Intermolecular forces are basically the forces between different molecules—if these forces get stronger, than it will be harder to break molecules apart.

When a substance is evaporating, or changing from a liquid state to a gaseous state, these intermolecular forces are being broken.

So, when there are stronger intermolecular forces, the substance becomes harder to evaporate.
