I have a question ... in my method of measurements of Moisture in Cosmetics by the distillation technique, it is recommended to use Saturated toluene (saturated with water). Can you inform me how to prepare this saturated solution of toluene and water?

This is pretty easy to do....

Explanation:

Get your toluene, and put it in a separating funnel with a little bit of water...give the flask a good shake, drain off the water, and voila....toluene saturated with water.

The solubility of water in toluene is pretty minimal. Nevertheless toluene will support SOME water content. As always, saturation specifies an equilibrium concentration....I used to do this with #""^2H_2O#...and then use the toluene solution to label other beasts.
