Species are classified depending on how related they are when it comes to evolutionary traits.
Explanation:
The more similar two species are, the closer they are related in the past. Meaning that once, back in time, they were both the same species, but then some groups of that species maybe wandered off to some new place and started changing accordingly. Eventually the two can no longer reproduce with each other, and then they are called different species.
We classify species depending on how related they are.
