Life.

Explanation:

Photosynthesis is the process of plants transforming #"CO"_2# to #"O"_2#, which almost all living things need to live.

So the importance of photosynthesis is that without it, there would be no life. Most likely not many plants either, since living beings produce #"CO"_2# which the plants need.

To make food and oxygen.

Explanation:

Photosynthesis is the process in which plants make simple sugars, such as glucose, and oxygen gas, as waste, or used for respiration.

The balanced chemical equation for photosynthesis is:

#6CO_2(g)+6H_2O(l)stackrel("sunlight")stackrel("chlorophyll")->C_6H_12O_6(aq)+6O_2(g)#

Glucose #(C_6H_12O_6)# is then broken down into pyruvate #(C_3H_3O_3^-)#, and then into #"ATP"#, which contains a lot of energy in its phosphate bonds.

Oxygen #(O_2)# is important as it is the basis of cellular respiration (aerobic), and is used in respiration to release energy from #"ATP"# as well, up to #38# molecules!

So, photosynthesis is therefore an extremely important and essential process for plant life.
