#A_"Trapezoid"=1/2(b_"1"+b_"2")h#

Explanation:

This is always the formula for solving the area of a trapezoid, where #b_"1"# is base 1 and #b_"2"# is base 2.

If we were to solve for the area of this trapezoid, it would be

#A=1/2(8+6)4#
#A=1/2(14)4#
#A=7*4#
#A=28"units"^2# Remember that area units are always squared

You may also see it written as

#A=(a+b)/2 * h#, which is still the same thing

Sidenote: You may have noticed that the #7# and #5# became negligible when solving the area, as these will never be used for area of a trapezoid.
