The Moors were Muslims nomads from North Africa who conquered Spain in 711 and ruled Spain until 1492

Explanation:

As Islam spread across North Africa the moorish nomads were converted to Islam and recruited into the Islamic armies. The Moors invaded and conquered Spain in 711. The Islamic Empire occupied all of Spain and invaded France, where they were defeated in the battle of Tours (Poitiers) in 732.

The Moors continued to rule North Africa even after the Reconquesta of Spain. The Moors ( Morocco ) also invaded and conquered the West Africa Empire of Songhai, Sicily, and parts of Eastern Europe.

The Moors are dark skinned people, not Negroid, similar to their Arab neighbors. The Moors have been primarily Muslim since the 600s AD. In parts of North Africa they continue their ancestor's nomadic existence.
