So if we for instance have a solution of methanol and water, we could separate the methanol from the water, just by knowing the boiling point of methanol #(63# celsius). So by heating the solution the 63 C, we would expect to have separated the two compounds from each other.

If you should separate a mixture i would recommend using a HPLC instrument. Its designed to separate compounds either in gas or liquid phase
