Many in America want nothing to do with another war in Europe. Their position was neutral. President Roosevelt understood this but also felt War was probably inevitable. He assisted Britain as much as he could with "Lend Lease" and other help. In return Britain gave America, a variety of small territories that could used as bases, technological and atomic secrets, including the Ultra secret. The British also setup an intelligence network inside the US with FBI co-operation.

It took the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor to motivate Americans to get involved in the World War.
