Why is a person suffering from acidity is advised to take an antacid ?????

Because an antacid is a basic substance.

Explanation:

Occasionally the stomach may produce more digestive enzymes than required. Theses enzymes are acidic in nature. Such a situation is called acidity. To neutralize it antacids are takes, which are basic in nature, and thus relieve us from the discomfort caused.
